SOMSAR . . .

This is a new centre in the map of the Sangha in the district of Bankura (West Bengal). The village organisation is called "Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir" which is a new organisation following Ramakrishna-Vivekananda ideology has not only got tremendous potentiality but also evoked wide-spread interest even from abroad. The Sangha feels honoured to include this place within its gamut of activities as it is the birth place of Revered Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj, the twelfth President of the Ramakrishna Order.

The Sangha has achieved much in terms of the work done so far. It had begun its service at Somsar with the activities under its Curative Healthcare Service programmes. It is gradually finding its place in penetrating the villages by way of its Preventive and Promotive Healthcare activities under the Eight Point Guidelines of the World Health Organization.

The primary job of training local village youth as Community Health Guides has been completed. The Sangha is now all set to implement the integrated approach for primary healthcare. The infrastructure of the Sangha at Somsar is also comparitively developed to carry out its services in a considerable way. The Bhuteshananda Centenary Clinic has come up at Somsar.
