With due stress on 'safe motherhood and child survival', the Sangha has undertaken antenatal, natal and post-natal services including immunization coverage of the mothers as well as pathological tests, general health checkup and distribution of folic acid & iron tablets to them. In the working schedule of the Sangha's Mobile Healthcare Unit, a separate time slot has been kept exclusively for Mother & Child Health Care programme for each centre. The endeavour has been directed towards encouragement, motivation and practice in relation to family planning. The eligible couple protection rate through temporary and permanent methods has significantly and favourably changed with the introduction of this programme within the last few years. Camps for sterilization are regularly organized and there has been a good response from the villagers in this programme.

Previously, the health of only the pregnant mothers before child birth was examined and necessary medicines provided. At present, the programme has been largely expanded. All women between 10 - 45 years have been brought under the programme. At each Centre, blood of all women of the mentioned age group is examined and necessary medicine supplied as required. Regular medical examinations, classes on basic rules of hygiene and councelling of pregnant mothers on child care are done along with medical check up and nutritional suppport to children just born to 5 years of age.

The
untrained birth attendants - a typical feature of Indian villages
- residing in these areas are trained by qualified personnel of
the Sangha to enable them to carry on the work more confidently
and in a proper way. Thus, with proper training the Sangha can tap this potential of human resources.
