Various
Medical Camps are organized by the Sangha throughout the year to cater to the urgent needs of villagers around the Centres. Such
camps also open up possibilities of establishing public relations.
It is
a long-felt demand of the Sangha to organise cataract operation camps in its rural Centres as innumerable poor villagers suffer from partial blindness owing to cataract, often do not have the resources for undergoing operation in a metropolitan city like Kolkata. In the past, the Sangha
was able to organise camps. Patients are brought from villages and operated in Kolkata. In the year 2004-05 around 67 patients were brought in from the Centres and operated upon at "Netra Niketan" in Kolkata, with due care. As many as 114 patients were given spectacles free of cost.
A special camp on rheumatic artharitis was organized as Khanpur under the supervision of eminent physician Dr. Amalendu Ghosh and sponsorship from IPGMER. BMD tests were done on several patients who were also supplied with calcium tablets 110 patients were examined and treated.
Besides, dental check up camps are also held at regular intervals.
Organising
such camps in the villages greatly enthuses the volunteers and also
attract the new comers.
