LALGARH . . .

Lalgarh being situated at the farthest corner of our field area deserves maximum attention because of its needs. This is a tribal centre with a poor basic health care facility which the Sangha is trying to develop since the last 15 years. Lalgarh Vivekananda Seva Sangha has come into existence as a separate registered society formed by the villagers of Lalgarh committed for the implementation of various health care programmes of the Sangha. Because it is very far from Calcutta, the maximum load of activities are taken by our Mobile Health Care Unit when they spent 3 consecutive days every month during their visit.

Owing to political unrest at Lalgarh and adjacent villages, the Government of West Bengal has imposed restrictions in movement in the disturbed areas. As a result, the actiities at Lalgarh have been discontinued for about a year and half now. People in general are aware of the situation prevailing there through media reports. Keeping in view the need of the poorest of the poor in this area, we are waiting for the return of normalcy on which we may be able to resume our activities and serve the people which we have been doing.
