KHANPUR . . .
Khanpur
is the oldest and the largest centre in the history of the Vivekananda
Swasthya Seva Sangha. As a matter of fact, Khanpur is a complex
of multi-village infrastructures which are also individually registered
with a central committee comprising of representatives of various
units at Khanpur in the District of Hooghly (West Bengal). And that
is why Khanpur is a direct Branch Centre of the Sangha since the
last 5 years. This branch has got its own land, houses and a full-functioning
Branch Committee.
The
other member organizations of this united Khanpur centre are:
- Maharampur
Vivekananda Seva Samity;
- Shiptai Vivekananda Gramin
Seva Sangha;
- Gurap Visuddhananda
Ashrama
- Keshabpur
Kalimata Palli Unnayan Samity
- Sahapur Ramakrishna Vivekananda Sangha
The
Branch Committee of Khanpur ensures close monitoring of all these
peripheral units and has got direct link with the Headquarters by
our Permanent Representative. The idea of formation of branch centres
is decentralization of power so also to monitor the village centres
directly from Khanpur itself. Khanpur Centre is now full-blown which
shows a clear picture of implementation of eight points of Primary
Health Care programmes. The
latest addition to the Khanpur Centre which is getting popularized
gradually, is a Public Library. They are aiming at developing a separate
complex where a library building will be constructed with a community-cum-prayer
hall for which a separate piece of land has already been procured.
In the campus a statue
of Swami Vivekananda has been installed in an appropriate place as a permanent source
and mark of inspiration amongst the youths of this locality in
relation
to the activities of the Sangha. A computer training centre has been started with the aim of exposing the youth of the area to modern day information technology.
