Based
on Universal Programme, Primary Immunization is the oldest activity
of the Sangha. Since the inception of the Sangha, a day every month
is observed as "Immunization Day" in each Rural Centre of
the Sangha. Immunization to all infants under one year is greatly
emphasized. The programme particularly covers all the villages under
consideration and has shown encouraging results.
Nowadays,
various Government and Non-Government Agencies have begun immunization
programmes in rural India. However, owing to ignorance as well as
lack of awareness, many do not complete the full course. Cases of dropouts are still being found in villages.
The Sangha
has undertaken a programme of locating the drop-out children on
the basis of a door-to-door survey in the areas of its activity
and thereafter completing the vaccination of these children according
to Primary Immunization Schedule.
