Health problems
in the remote villages are mainly due to extreme ignorance and poverty.
Therefore, medical services alone are inadequate to bring about
total transformation of our villages. Suitable socio-economic, cultural
and religrous activities are also necessary for attaining economic
self-sufficiency and moral rejuvenation. For this purpose, the non-medical
associate members actively engage themselves in such activities
along with the like-minded local youth organisations, motivating
them to such activities.
A village is
chosen for rendering such promotive services as per the following
criteria:
(1) Need : Backwardness
and poverty of the area.
(2) Location : Existence of communication links with Headquarters.
(3) Feasibility : This will depend upon ability and resources.
(4) Workability : To work in co-operation with some local club or
social organisation.

Prevention is
better than cure. In this regard, with the assistance of the All
India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, and following W.H.O.
guidelines, this Organisation has formulated a detailed project
of a total Preventive Programme. This includes the Sangha's efforts
in the areas of Mother and Child Healthcare, Immunization, Family
Welfare, Nutrition Supplementation Therapy, Environmental Sanitation,
Drinking Water and School Health Programmes.
The organisation
is imparting para-medical training to literate youth volunteers
for follow up action in the adopted villages.
Thus, it is
intended by the Sangha to build up in every adopted village, a permanent
infrastructure to continuously monitor the health needs of the village.

The Curative
Services constitute an important part of the Sangha's activities
too. Curative Services cover the patients treated at the clinics
run by the Sangha at its centres. Medicines are distributed free
to the poor and needy. Priority is given to children so as to eliminate
the poverty-linked diseases like malnutrition and vitamin-deficiency.
Eye camps and other medicals camps are organized from time to time.
Besides, there
is a Mobile Healthcare Unit equipped with facilities like X-Ray,
pathological laboratory, audio-visual system and medicine counter,
manned by a team of doctors and other hands.
